Bombay Grill – Evanston, IL

Bombay Grill was my first foray into Indian food, and I loved it! The restaurant is a bit small, but cozy. I ordered the Lamb Saag, lamb with a spinach sauce. I was expecting to get a place with lamb and some sauce poured over it. I was a bit surprised when, instead, I got two bowls. One with rice and one with something that looked like green stew.

Needless to say, I wasn’t sure what to make of it all. Eventually I figured it out. The lamb was cut into smaller pieces in the spinach sauce. In the end, the dish was delicious. It was a good start to my exploration of Indian food.

Tommy Nevin’s Pub

Although I’ve been to Tommy Nevin’s a couple times before, it’s never been for a substantial meal.

Went out to lunch with my dad yesterday, and we decided to go to Tommy Nevin’s (because I had an unused Groupon).

Nevin’s has the typical pub grub menu, so I ordered a simple burger. My dad went with tilapia.

Here’s what my dad got:

For a pub, the dish was really well made, and apparently tasted really good. I got a typical burger, nothing special.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the food at Nevin’s. I’ll definitely be going back, but I’ll try something other than a burger next time.

Pete Miller’s Seafood & Prime Steak

I’ve heard a lot about Pete Miller’s in my time in Evanston, but I’ve never had the chance to go, not to mention the money. Luckily, Groupon had a $25 for $50 deal for Pete Miller’s recently, and I jumped at the opportunity.

Today I finally visited for an early Easter dinner with family. Since it’s supposed to be well known for its steak, I figured I should order one. I tend to only order filet mignon when eating steak, but the server recommended the Kansas City steak, which is a New York cut with the bone, cooked with peppercorn and served with a cognac reduction sauce. I ordered it medium rare. Low res cell phone picture below:
