Belated Music Monday – Peer Gynt and Op.77 3rd Movement

Instead of two separate posts about music, I’ll simply do one with two videos.

For this week I bring you two orchestral pieces. One is very relaxing and light while the other is, as my friend put it, “winner music.”

Peer Gynt – Morning by Edvard Grieg

Music Monday: Carol of the Bells, Dubstep Style

Seeing as Christmas is in less than a week, I thought it was fitting to post a Christmas/Holiday-themed song. Enjoy.

Music Monday – Bach and Satie

Music Monday returns! This week I bring you two pieces I recently re-discovered.

Bo Burnham’s Rant

Bo Burnham is one of my favorite comedic artists. His raps/songs are so smart, laced with puns and rhymes. Below is one of my favorites, simply titled “Rant.” I know I’ve posted this before, but lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Bo Burnham during my commute, and I wanted to post this again.

Warning: Not for the swear-averse or extremely religious folks.

Relaxing/Ambient Music

I’ve made a new playlist on Youtube with Relaxing/Ambient music. A lot of it is electronic, but it’d the type of stuff I like to listen to before bed sometimes. Check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4234ED1D44F98BA7.

Here’s one of the songs. It’s actually from the game Mass Effect.

If you like this type of music, I also suggest checking out www.di.fm. The Space Dreams station is really chill.

The First Music Monday!

This weekend I discovered a new sub-genre of music called Melodic Dubstep. It’s also sometimes called Chill or Chillout Dubstep. Now, usually I wouldn’t consider dubstep as “chill” music, but I’ve discovered some great songs (and I still am). I’ve created a playlist that I’ll be adding more songs to as I discover them. Here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2654B847933679BF.

And just to whet your appetites, here’s one of my favorite Melodic Dubstep songs I’ve found so far:

Do you have any good additions to the playlist?

Yasmin & Bo Burnham

I recently discovered this great music video by Yasmin, for her single On My Own. Not only are the instrumentals great, but the lyrics are really good. Not to mention that the video is shot beautifully.

Then there’s this amazing remix on Sound Cloud:

Music: Holiday, Love is Noise, & More

So it’s been a while. Even though I wanted to post every week, that hasn’t worked out. We’ll see what happens in the future.

Anyway, here’s some music I’ve discovered and re-discovered these past few weeks:

Dizzee Rascal’s Holiday

Although it was release in 2009 (and I’ve probably heard it before), I heard it again in London’s NYE fireworks display finale. My favority part of the song is the end, around 3:10 in the video below:

Although I also like the instrumental version of the song:

How Musical Are You?

I recently found this BBC test on musicality. I’m not sure how accurate it is, but it was fun to take. I’d recommend taking it just for fun.

Here are my results:
