Delays in Posts

I’m still trying to catch up on posts from my 3 day haitus. I’ll be posting as quickly as I can, but I don’t want to post things just for the sake of posting. I’ll make sure to put out some quality posts, but those do take some time. More posts will come later today. Hopefully I’ll be back on schedule by the end of the day.

Please be patient!

Updated Publishing Schedule

With the addition of the new Architecture & Design category, I’m changing the publishing schedule to the following:

Music Monday
Travel & Food Tuesday
Android Wednesday
Gadget & Tech Thursday
Film & TV Friday
Car Saturday
Architecture & Design Sunday

Note that the categories at the top of the blog have been shortened so they can all fit.

Random posts will be publish… at random, of course!

Would you do your job for free?

As I near completion of my time in college, I’ve already begun my job search (albeit very slowly). Truthfully, I have no clue what field I want to enter. So as I look through the multitude of job listings that I could possibly apply for, the question at the front of my mind is, “will this make me happy?” I’m still not sure what would make me happy in the end, but a great bit of job advice that I’ve heard before is, “if you wouldn’t do your job for free, then quit.”

A recent Lifehacker article reminded me about this career advice. As I reflect on my Co-Op experience, I realize that I could potentially see myself doing the work for free. So it would seem that I found something that makes me happy, now I just need to find a permanent position that I’d like.

What about you? Have you found that job that you love?

New Publishing Schedule

Starting this Friday, I’ll be doing more blog posts based on the following schedule:

Music Monday
Travel & Food Tuesday
Android Wednesday
Gadget & Tech Thursday
Film & TV Friday
Car Saturday
Random Sunday

I’m still working on the names for Saturday, Saturday, and Wednesday. Any suggestions?

I’m Back!

Well, I was never gone, I just wasn’t posting. I’ve made up my mind, though, and I’m going to try to post more often, at least once a week. Most likely I’ll post a compilation of videos, music, and stories that I’ve found interesting throughout the week.

Along with my return is a new blog theme!

It’s been a while. Time to turn over a new leaf!

I know that not many people read this (mostly friends), but I want to write more often. I also want to take this opportunity to improve my writing skills, which are not up to the level I’d like them to be. There is only one way to improve my writing skills, and that is to practice.
So, here’s the plan. I will write a post each week about a topic. The goal is to write at least a one page essay (double-spaced, 12 point, Times New Roman font, normal margins). It will be difficult, particularly with a 40+ hours/week job and the numerous other obligations I have. But I need to stop making excuses and just do it. To my friends reading my posts, please try to hold me to this plan. If I start to stray from my plan, annoy me until I get back on track.
Other than that weekly post, I’ll post random things that catch my attention. Maybe they’ll even turn into my weekly essay.
Speaking or random things that catch my attention, I found this amazing site that takes children’s drawings and turns them into real life photography. It’s truly genius to do this. Head on over to http://chungdesigns.freehostia.com/drupal/04-28-09/yeondoo-jungs-wonderland-childrens-drawings-photos.htm to check out the pictures.
Here’s one example that I really like:

My “Hello” to the World.

Welcome to my blog! My name is Paul, and I am a college student studying Biomedical Engineering (BME) in the US. I have finally decided to join the blogging craze. I know I’m quite behind on the curve, but I don’t mind.

I will not be revealing my full identity on this blog. Why? I’m not sure, but I think it’ll be more interesting this way. All you need to know is that my name is Paul and I am a college student. In subsequent posts, I will most likely reaveal small tidbits of info about me, most likely unintentionally. So if you want to know more about me, you’ll just have to read my blog. ūüôā

I felt is was fitting that my first post would be the weekend after my quarter ended. Finals are done, and I have time to think about stuff other than biomechanics and biostatistics. Also, during this break I will be going on a cruise to the Caribbean (over Christmas), and then I’ll be in Dubai during New Year’s. If anything interesting happens, I’ll post here.

However, that’s not the main purpose of this blog. The purpose of this blog is to let you, the people, know anything¬†interesting¬†I stumble onto. For example, today, I’d like to show you an awesome widget that charts the entire history of the internet, particularly all the memes that have arisen since the internet’s inception.

Here’s the link: http://www.dipity.com/tatercakes/Internet_Memes/embed_tl?skin

WARNING: If you get too caught up in it (i.e. zoom in on the timeline for a more detailed view of memes), you will lose track of time and spend hours browsing through the history of the internet (I know this from experience).

The site, Dipity, can do this for all kinds of subjects, such as a timeline of the H1N1 vaccine or the official Tom Cruise timeline. It’s pretty cool, and I’m still exploring it’s uses.

That’s all for tonight. I’m sure I’ll have more¬†interesting¬†things later today.
